This four week workshop will explore the world of spring flowers.
We will paint flowers, such as iris, magnolia, tulip, crocus and trillium. Artists will capture the beauty and energy of spring blooms and their brushwork and exciting colour. The course emphasizes an expressive approach just steps beyond traditional realism to embrace abstraction and creativity. We will experiment with colour theory , layering, and texture.
We will bring these flowers to life on canvas, The course encourages personal interpretation and artistic freedom. This is a step by step demonstration course.
Paints:
acrylic _ heavy body, soft body , fluid or a variety , or water mixable or traditional oil ( No oil beginners please)
colours: dioxazine purple, magenta, yellow, naphtol red or cadmium red light, white, black, ultramarine blue, turquoise or
phthalo blue, sap green, other colours as desired
Brushes:
Synthetic - quarter and/or half inch or flat Filbert brushes, liner 0 zero, others as desired
water containers (2)
Palette or foam plates, Sta-wet palette optional
Supports:
Canvases 11 x 14" or watercolour paper plus a foam core support may also be used (bring masking tape for watercolour paper)
Paper towel
Hairdryer
Pencil, eraser
