Explore the exciting medium of watercolour in a fun and creative environment, working from real objects, and learning colour theory and mixing. Andrew Hamilton will help each artist to find their own personal style. we will be working on finishing paintings in a range of genres, including landscape, florals and still life.
Suitable for beginner and intermediate painters-as well as advanced watercolour artists wanting professional advice.

Supplies
Painters who already have watercolour kits should bring them on Day 1. Students new to watercolour painting will need the following essentials:
- Paper: a pad of Aquapad (or similar) watercolour paper (140 lb or 200 lb), cold or smooth (your choice) or -- if you like detail -- hot press. If you have Arches , Saunders or other paper you like please bring it.
- Brushes:
- Medium Chinese brush #9
[or if you can’t find this, a #12 or #14 round watercolour brush and #4 or #6 detail brush]
- Rigger or liner brush (any size)
- 1” flat brush (for washes or blocking in large areas of colour)
- Collapsible portable palette (approx.. 4” x 8”)
- Paints (brands – Da Vinci, Graham, Schmincke, or any other “artist grade” paint)
- Colours: hansa yellow light or lemon yellow, quinacridone red, phthalo blue, ultramarine blue,... And any other colours you may already have
NOTE: paints are often sold in sets: semi-dry blocks of colour or tubes. Tubes are moist and allow easier rationing of paint.
- Other:
- A roll of masking tape (1/2” or ¾”)
- 2H pencil and eraser
- 12” ruler
- Toilet paper roll
- Optional – a drawing board
