Discover your artistic potential with Studio's 201 Expressive Still Life painting class. In still life painting, inanimate objects are explored for the sake of their qualities of form, colour, texture, and composition. Andrew Hamilton will guide you through the process of creating beautiful still life paintings, from the selecting the perfect subject to mastering composition and colour. Whether you're a beginner or an experienced artist, this class is perfect for honing your skills.
Key topics will include colour theory, colour mixing, composition, and the relationship between light and shadow. As the course proceeds, students will be encouraged to work on their own subject matter in order to apply theory presented in earlier classes.
For the first class, students are asked to bring a canvas or other substrate of their choice, watercolour, acrylic or oil paints (and a range of pallet knives for acrylics or oils).
